CoD players ignite Vanguard graphics: “It looks like a Nintendo DS”

The Call of Duty community has had mixed reactions to Vanguard’s Alpha, with the game’s console graphics being the loudest. Compared to the Nintendo DS, with its more colorful language, the community is… less than happy.

Call of Duty and PlayStation have a deal in place which means PS gamers have access to more stuff and older stuff than their PC and Xbox counterparts. This is the case of the Vanguard Alpha 2021, exclusive to the PS4 and the PS5.

Unfortunately, while the Alphas are generally expected to look less polished than their final product, the return to PlayStation graphics has left streamers and fans alike excited.

One clip in particular sparked gamers’ ire, with people reacting and claiming that the graphics look like a Nintendo DS or the year 2000. Above all, many don’t seem inspired by their first glance.

As you can see in the clip, the graphics aren’t particularly impressive. This can be attributed to the fact that it is an Alpha as well as the dangers of Twitter compression, but also to PlayStation exclusivity.

This last point has been explicitly questioned by popular CoD content creators like JGOD, who called it “crazy” for the first look at CoD 2021 to be a look at limited console visuals.

Concerned about how people feel about gameplay, JGOD reinforces that the game is makes it a graphical improvement over its predecessors: “It looks better graphically than MW2019 and Warzone, but you’d never know what’s released. “

Lamenting the inability to play and share the game in 1440p or 120 FOV, JGOD was sure to comfort people in the answers that yes, this game is “better than CoD has ever been graphically”.

While many gamers don’t mind the Alpha’s presentation, seeing it for what it is – a bug and gameplay test, a noisy group is still not satisfied. The general theme seems to be: a game on the 2013 PS4 should not look like a game on the 2004 Nintendo DS.
