YouTuber plays Xbox Series X with a Nintendo DS

In November of last year, the world was blessed with the next generation of consoles. Microsoft launched the mighty Xbox Series X, a console that was considered the best iteration of its kind to date. It is capable of running games at up to 120 FPS, while also supporting 4K and 8K TVs. Naturally, you’ll want to play it in all its glory on the big screen, but have you ever wondered what it would look like if you played Xbox Series X on a Nintendo DS? If you wanted the answer to this weirdly specific question, fear not, because YouTube channel The Retro Future has you covered.

This is all made possible through the use of Agatsuma Entertainment’s Japan-exclusive Nintendo DS TV tuner, an accessory apparently released in 2006. To use this device, you must be using a Nintendo DS with a Game Boy Advance slot. The original purpose of the TV tuner was to allow Japanese audiences to watch a variety of TV broadcasts. However, you can also use the device’s AV cables to connect it to other inputs. The Retro Future used an AV-to-HDMI converter, allowing them to plug the Xbox Series X into the Nintendo DS TV tuner. The results are impressive; However, the resolution will obviously be poor compared to a decent display.

If you want to play new Resident Evil Village on your Nintendo DS for some reason it seems like it is possible, although maybe without sound. Unfortunately, this particular Nintendo DS TV tuner is really hard to find, so you might have to stick to playing your Xbox Series X through more conventional means.
